Hunting and Fishing
William Kalang Alang discusses the Sa'ban practices of hunting and fishing in the Sa'ban language. The recording explains different methods of hunting for wild boar and catching fish. It was recorded in Long Banga on 28th November 2017.
this afternoon, I am going to say a bit
about how the Sa'ban hunt for wild boar
and hunt for fish
because Bulan asked me to say something
about how our Sa'ban elders went to catch fish
and hunt for wild boar, like that
in the beginning
our elders
they did not have guns
they used dogs to hunt for wild boar
if the dogs bark at the wild boar
then they trap it
then they kill the wild boar using a spear
afterwards, when people had guns
they were able to hunt with guns
and use dogs as well
so that's one way
the elders could also set traps
that was a way they caught wild boar or deer
when they fall into the trap
the second thing is how we catch fish
we use fishing nets
we use fishing hooks
we use fish traps
we use talep traps
we use fishing nets
there are many ways that we catch fish
if we go and look for fish
so that's a little bit about that
